Bradenton Herald (Florida)
Three firefighters suffered injuries fighting a house fire early this morning at 223 11th Avenue East.
Smoke and fire, possibly caused by an electrical short in the master bedroom, destroyed the home of a family of six.
Emergency officials — Bradenton firefighters and police — responded to the fire at about 12:23 a.m., believing that children were inside the home. Two adults and four children lived at the single-story residence.
No children were located inside, but as firefighters fought the blaze, three suffered injuries. One firefighter suffered from smoke inhalation, one from electrical shock and one from a laceration to his leg. All three were treated at Manatee Memorial Hospital and then released.
The fire brought out six Bradenton fire units, two command staff, one safety officer, four investigators and one unit from Southern Manatee Fire Rescue.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
