A former Southwest City, Mo., volunteer firefighter was arrested on suspicion of starting numerous grass and brush fires in the western portion of Benton County.
Mark Wolfe, 33, and Tia Sandford, 19, both from the Southwest City, Mo., area, were arrested Saturday morning on multiple counts of arson.
Authorities believe several grass and brush fires that occurred between 8 p.m. Thursday and 5:15 a.m. Friday were deliberately set, said Capt. Tom Brewster with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. The fires occurred in the Maysville area south to U.S. Highway 412 and Fairmount Road, east of Gentry.
