Back in November, when Elijah Tezeno graduated from the Fire Academy, he said it was one of the proudest days of his life. But a little over a month later, he was fired.
Not because of performance, but because of what his lawyer says was a mistake. On his application, he checked “no” to the question of whether or not he’d been fired from a previous job.
He was a Human Resources Assistant on Fort Drum when he was suspended for a comment he made. Even though he never formally quit, Tezeno says he had no intentions of coming back to work until his situation was resolved. But a week later he was fired.
