A funeral has been scheduled for Tracy Champion, 49, a 21-year veteran of the Philadelphia Fire Department who died in the line of duty Saturday.
Mr. Champion lost consciousness while fighting a fire in a three-story building on North 55th Street. He was treated by Fire Department medical workers at the scene and then taken to Lankenau Hospital. The Medical Examiner’s Office concluded that he had suffered a heart attack.
Mayor Street said that he was “deeply saddened by this event, and all Philadelphians’ thoughts and prayers are with the Champion family.”
