Georgia firefighters battle blaze at Cartersville Anheuser-Busch plant

The Associated Press

CARTERSVILLE, Ga.— Firefighters have put out an ammonia fire at the Cartersville Anheuser-Busch plant.

The fire, which happened late Monday night, prompted an evacuation of the building.

No injuries were reported. But officials were trying to determine if the air quality in the plant was safe for employees, Cartersville Assistant Fire Chief Norris Westbrooks said.

Plant manager Steve McDaniel said the fire began when an ammonia compressor in the utility powerhouse exploded.

``At this time, we do not know the root cause of the explosion,’' McDaniel said.
