BURGIN, Ky. — Two Harrodsburg firefighters were injured Monday afternoon when their pumper truck overturned near Burgin as they responded to a call.
Fire Chief Charlie Stinnett said firefighters Joseph Sexton, who was driving, and Rick Maxfield suffered injuries in the crash about 2:30 p.m. near Burgin city limits on Ky. 5152. Both were taken to James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg, where they were treated and released about six hours later.
The men were responding to a call of a bad gas leak at the Harrodsburg Water Treatment Plant on Ky. 33 outside Burgin when Sexton lost control of the vehicle and it flipped over. The cause is still under investigation.
