MANILA — The Philippine President Lines (PPL) building where several offices of the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) are located was damaged by a blaze, which reached Task Force Delta level on Wednesday.

Manila fire marshal Senior Supt. Pablito Cordeta said that the fire started at 4:10 a.m. at Room 515 of the said building at the corner of United Nations Avenue and San Marcelino Street and spread to all seven floors. He said no one was initially reported injured.

Portions of United Nations Avenue were closed to traffic as the heat grew so intense that firefighters were forced to use breathing apparatuses to get near the building.
