WHITMAN, Mass. — A former Halifax firefighter sacked last summer for disciplinary reasons is now facing charges for allegedly making death threats against the chief.
Whitman police say 43-year-old Robert Mansfield was arrested Thursday and charged with threatening to commit murder, intimidation of a witness, stalking and criminal harassment.
The alleged victim was Halifax Fire Chief Lance Benjamino.
Benjamino says he was aware of the arrest and confirmed that Mansfield was fired in August for unspecified disciplinary reasons.
Mansfield was released on bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Plymouth District Court on Friday.
