Nassau County Fire Chief Chuck Cooper and another fire-rescue employee were seriously injured Thursday in a single-vehicle crash on CR 108 near Sand Hill.
Cooper, 46, apparently lost control of the 2003 Ford Crown Victoria as he rounded a curve heading west on CR 108 about 10:48 a.m., said Lt. Bill Leeper of the Florida Highway Patrol.
The vehicle veered off the north shoulder of the road, into a ditch and slid sideways before returning to the road and rolling at least once, said Leeper.
