RALEIGH, N.C. — A firefighter died Tuesday four days after suffering an aortic tear while reponding to a medical call.
Lieutenant Herman S. Jones, of the Raleigh Fire Department, was transported to Wake Medical Center Friday after experiencing chest pain and was later moved to UNC hospital.
He was a 27-year veteran of his department and achieved the rank of lieutenant in 2001.
Memorials for Lt. Jones will be held this Saturday.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. at Haywood Funeral Home, 2415 South Wilmington Street in Raleigh.
Funeral services will follow at at Juniper Level Baptist Church, 9104 Sauls Road.
