TULSA — A firefighter was injured fighting a gasoline-fueled blaze this afternoon, but was treated and released from a local hospital, authorities said.
Debris fell on the firefighter’s helmet as he was fighting a fire in the 3700 block of E 83 St. about 3 p.m., Tulsa fire Capt. Michael Baker said.
A man at the home said he’d tried to start a fire in the fireplace using gasoline and the flames ignited the gas can and parts of the room. He tripped and kicked flaming fuel across the room as he was trying to leave the home. The man suffered minor burns to his feet and was treated at the scene, Baker said.
The man also went back inside the home to search for his son, but the boy had left the house. Three additional family members were home at the time at the time of the blaze, but escaped without injury, he said.
