SAN FRANCISCO — Rescuers plucked a 13-year-old boy from the side of a coastal cliff near Fort Funston after he got stuck on the rocks high above the beach.
The boy was wandering down the side of a cliff Sunday afternoon when he became stuck about 50 feet above the beach and about 20 feet from the top, authorities said.
“It is a gradual face and it looks like you can just walk down to the beach,” Golden Gate National Recreation Area spokesman Rich Weideman said.
But the cliff becomes steeper and sandy, making it difficult to climb up or down, Weideman said.
The teen was on the cliff for about an hour before San Francisco firefighters were able to rescue him.
