Road-rage incident costs Indiana firefighter his job

FISHERS, Ind. — A Fishers firefighter, accused in November of pointing a loaded firearm at a motorist during a road rage incident in Carmel, had until today to submit a resignation or be terminated.

The Fishers fire commissioners listened to six hours of testimony Thursday, then deliberated for 90 minutes before recommending that Christopher M. Reily, 33, of Cicero, be terminated.

“It was a 3-to-1 vote for dismissal,” Fishers Fire Chief Brian Lott said Friday morning. “But they gave him three business days — until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday — to resign. I guess they felt some compassion for him.”
