SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Faulty air tanks have put firefighters at risk and forced the San Antonio Fire Department to alter its procedures to compensate, officials said.
The department tracked numerous failures of the air tanks since October that resulted in a complete loss of air flow during firefighting. No firefighters have been injured as a result of the malfunctions.
On Wednesday, San Antonio officials met with Interspiro Inc., which makes the gear, and asked the Wisconsin-based company to address the problems by Friday.
