GREER, S.C. — A South Carolina firefighter died earlier in July after losing consciousness at his firehouse.
Pelham-Batesville Fire Department Engineer Charles Robert “Bob” Flintom, 61, was preparing lunch on July 1 when he blacked-out and fell, striking his head, according to a USFA fatality notification released Monday.
Hospital staff discovered his fall caused internal bleeding and his condition worsened, causing him to lose consciousness the following day.
Engineer Flintom, a fire service veteran for more than 30 years, ultimately succumbed to his injuries on July 4.
