DALLAS — A Dallas firefighter was found unconscious Thursday morning at his station and died, but the cause of his death remains a mystery, officials said.

Chris Pham, 35, was found in his bunk during the morning shift change at Station 49, 4901 S. Hampton Road. He was unresponsive.

He was taken to Methodist Charlton Medical Center, where he died. The Dallas County medical examiner was expected to release autopsy results today.

Dallas police said Pham’s death is listed as “unexplained.” While officials are not sure what caused the death, it does not appear to be suspicious, police said.

“He was a bright and shining star and a future leader of our department,” Fire Chief Eddie Burns said.

Pham had been a member of the department since 2006.
