The Tryon Fire Department has approved its first black member as a volunteer.
Marshall Lipscomb was recently accepted into the Tryon Fire Department, according to Tryon Fire Chief Michael Coggins.
Coggins says the department is excited to have Lipscomb join the department. Lipscomb is already an area first responder.
