Colleagues shaken by hero’s death

MONTREAL — A civic funeral service for firefighter Capt. Marcel Marleau will be held Thursday if an autopsy scheduled for this morning goes ahead as planned, a senior fire official confirmed last night.
Marleau, a 28-year veteran of the department, died early Saturday as he led a team investigating complaints of smoke in an apartment building in Montreal North.
Members of the fire department contacted Marleau’s family yesterday to discuss funeral arrangements, James Ross, fire department chief of operations, said last night.
