David Smith was getting ready to respond to a hazardous materials spill call on Tuesday night, when he first said he didn’t feel well. About an hour later, Smith collapsed from an apparent heart attack.
Smith was a former fire chief and president, as well as elected fire commissioner. Aside from his duties as a fireman, he was also very active in the community.
