CHICOPEE, Mass. — A firefighter died while at the gym Thursday after getting off a 24-hour shift.
The Chicopee Fire Department announced the sudden death of firefighter Anthony Spano’s on Twitter and by email. Spano, 47, had been with the department for almost 14 years.
The Chicopee Police Department commented on Spano’s death on its Facebook page.
“Chief Jebb and the men and women of the Chicopee Police Department wish to offer our condolences to our brothers and sisters at the Chicopee Fire Department, as well as the family of firefighter Tony Spano,” the Facebook post read.
