Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company awards grant to Salem Fire Department

Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company announced that a $10,000 grant is being directed from Frank Crystal & Company to the Salem Fire Department for the purchase of a thermal imaging camera. These cameras are invaluable safety tools as they allow rapid primary searches in near-zero visibility conditions. They also assist in finding fire hidden in walls and other concealed spaces.

Fireman’s Fund employees work in conjunction with a network of independent agents, such as Frank Crystal & Co., to identify the needs of local fire departments. Fireman’s Fund Heritage Award Grants have helped departments across the nation with the purchase of new equipment. As of March 2007, the program had awarded well over $11 million in grants. Since the Fireman’s Fund Heritage program began in 2004, grants totaling over $1 million have been awarded to assist departments with the purchase of thermal imaging cameras.

Because of this grant all Salem Fire Department fire engines will be equipped with this life saving technology. According to Fire Chief Greg Keller “Fireman’s Fund’s contribution to the Salem Fire Department is greatly appreciated and will help us better serve our community.”
