Michigan Renews APCO EMD Approval

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) and the Emergency Telephone Services Committee renewed the approval and registration of the APCO Institute Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) Program, 5th Edit., Version 2. The MCOLES must approve all Telecommunicator training for the State of Michigan.

APCO Institute updated its EMD course and text in September 2004. The enhanced course focuses on topics including EMD roles and responsibilities, liability and standards, resource allocation, basic anatomy and physiology, quality assurance and improvement, stress management and how to use the APCO Institute EMD Guidecards.

The instructor version of the textbook includes a CD containing tools to enhance the learning experience, resource materials, quality assurance/quality improvement forms, and a demonstration of the APCO Institute MEDS software.
