New ‘Water Bomber’ Ready to Enter the Fight

Innovator, Problem-Solver Steve Green Unveils Retrofitted Aircraft to Deliver Water, Fire Retardant in an Effort to Protect Firefighters, High-Value Private and Commercial Property

Canton, Ohio - Amidst wildfires raging out of control this summer on two continents, Ohio inventor Steve Green has devised a weapon - the 101 “Water Bomber” - that could aid firefighters and property owners helpless in the face of oncoming flames. Working in conjunction with Wisconsin-based American Champion Aircraft (ACA) Corporation, Green’s vision involves retrofitting the ACA Scout aircraft built on the manufacturer’s “Scout” platform. These planes could then accurately deliver enough water and retardant to cover an entire football field in one drop, providing a last line of defense between charred rubble and intact homes.

“Whether you’re living in California or Greece, wildfires are dominating news headlines and leaving only devastation behind for people living in the path of the flames. Every year, wildfires displace thousands of people and destroy hundreds of homes,” said Green. “Design plans for the ‘Water Bomber’ began over a decade ago, and the project is now complete. It can’t arrive quickly enough for homeowners looking for help when firefighters and aircrews are already fully committed to the frontlines.”

Hopefully soon to be certified by the Federal Aviation Administration, the “Water Bomber” is capable of low, slow flight ideal for delivering water on target. Without FAA approval, “Water Bomber” flights are restricted to a 100-mile radius around ACA’s Wisconsin headquarters. Currently, ACA is capable of manufacturing 10 “Water Bombers” (new cost of $200,000 - $225,000). Insurance companies, homeowner groups, private individuals and business owners could contract for personalized protection when flames approach. Hourly operational costs are incredibly low when compared to other firefighting aircraft carrying a much higher operational price tag.

“Imagine several ‘Water Bombers’ flying in formation like a squadron of B-17 bombers in World War II, dropping down to deliver enough water to save a neighborhood or establish a firebreak,” said Green. “The true value of the ‘Water Bomber’ is the aircraft’s ability to quickly land in a field, refill, take off and deliver pinpoint coverage over rough terrain. Our aim is a quick first strike, stopping a fire at 200 acres of damage, not trying to contain the blaze at 200,000 acres. It’s just like a NASCAR pit stop, where every second counts.”

Together, Green and ACA have invested almost $1 million on this project to date. Learn more about the “Water Bomber” by contacting Green at (330) 605-2487.
