Smiths Detection Receives US Bridge Contract For Handheld Radiation Detectors

$10.2 million in RadSeeker orders from Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO)

Danbury, Connecticut – Smiths Detection today announces a $10.2 million order from a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) office for its nextgeneration, selfcalibrating radiation detection system, RadSeeker.

Fred Facemire, Director of Technology, Radiological Products, Smiths Detection said: "RadSeeker’s efficiency in identifying real threats and reliability makes it the right tool to help protect our nation’s borders. The low cost of ownership combined with Smiths Detection’s globallyrecognized training and service support make RadSeeker an excellent overall value for the Department of Homeland Security and our other customers."

Used by Customs and Border Protection (CBP), emergency responders and law enforcement agents around the world, the handheld RadSeeker locates the source of radiological material. Unlike other systems, its enhanced capability distinguishes radiological and nuclear threats from naturally occurring radiation or other legitimate everyday radiological materials.

The bridge contract is from the DHS’s Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO).
