Motorola showcases new APX portable radios
Motorola adds new designs to suite of APX radios
Motorola Solutions showcased the newest additions to its suite of APX mission-critical two-way radios at Fire Rescue International 2014 in Indianapolis.
The APX 1000 and APX 4000XE portable radios, along with the mobile APX Dual Radio, were built specifically for the public-safety market, said John Kedzierski, Motorola Solutions’ director of global product and solutions marketing.
“Police, fire, EMS, corrections and public-works agencies will appreciate the APX 1000 and 4000XE portable radios’ ASTRO 25 features and functionality, while an APX Dual Radio is the perfect mobile radio solution for public-safety agencies wanting all-band operation,” Kedzierski said.
The APX 1000 is a smaller, less-expensive portable radio for utilities, public works and small public-safety agencies, Kedzierski said. The radio features intelligent lighting and APX audio quality with dual-microphone, noise-suppression technology. It also supports P25 TDMA capabilities.
“It is our most cost-effective P25 dual-microphone available to public-safety users,” Kedzierski said.
The APX 4000XE targets public safety agencies looking for a cost-effective portable radio, Kedzierski said. The 4000XE is a durable P25 TDMA-capable radio with an ergonomic control top as well as dedicated control knobs for volume and channel selection. It also has dual-microphone, noise-suppression technology and supports Bluetooth.
The APX Dual Radio provides an all-band operation that enables users to monitor as many as four bands, including simultaneous monitoring more than one channel at a time using the Motorola O7 Mobile Radio Control Head. It also features dual- and single-priority scan technology.
“It is an exciting capability that enables a quad-band mobile radio solution, so customers on any combination of the public-safety bands — VHF, UHF, 700 MHz and 800 MHz — can operate those seamlessly,” he said.
Last month, Motorola announced another addition to the APX series with the launch of the APX 7000L multi-band portable radio with LTE, designed to meet the evolving technical needs of users.
