Safety Vision, L.P. Amplifies Onboard Camera Solutions Line with Mini Windshield Mobile Digital Video Recorder System, the New SafeDrive MiniDVR

Houston TX, — Safety Vision, the leading global provider of mobile digital video surveillance solutions, has unleashed its rugged SafeDrive MiniDVR™ mobile digital video recorder (MDVR) system for public and private sector fleet vehicles. Installing directly to the windshield and incorporating both a forward-facing road-view camera and a rear-facing cabin-view camera, the SafeDrive MiniDVR conveniently records video, audio, and metadata to a removable, high capacity, and economical CompactFlash® card, included behind lock and key within each unit. For nearly 17 years, Safety Vision has provided an evolving line of onboard surveillance systems to commercial trucking, law enforcement, pupil transportation, mass transit, and other mobile fleets. The new SafeDrive is a crossover product, having applications over a broad spectrum of these and other mobile industries.

“The SafeDrive MiniDVR is not only versatile, affordable, and easy to install, it also brings capabilities unlike any other mini DVR presently on the mobile surveillance market,” says Mark “Rex Colorado” Sahinen, Safety Vision’s vice president of sales. “The SafeDrive MiniDVR is capable of simultaneously recording post-event snapshots as it transfers motion video from the internal buffer onto the CompactFlash card for video storage. The post-event snapshots can be critical in documenting secondary impacts and what transpired after an event. Other mini DVRs shift 100 percent of their processing power to saving an event and do not have the ability to capture images after an event until the unit has completely transferred data files from the video buffer to permanent memory. The SafeDrive onboard surveillance system also has an external camera input available for the most comprehensive view. The external camera input can be a Safety Vision rear-view camera on the vehicle, or any camera that may be on the vehicle such as a dome, wedge, or zoom camera in school, transit, or law enforcement applications when a SafeDrive is integrated with other Safety Vision or competitor mobile video equipment—a functionality currently unmatched by any other windshield mini DVR.”

Video is automatically recorded when a vehicle operator is speeding or driving erratically, when the driver/operator manually presses the event save button, or when a crash occurs. Also recorded and tracked are GPS map coordinates, G-force data, vehicle speed, event trends, and audio that can be accessed by SafeDrive MiniDVR software. Serving as a data management portal, SafeDrive MiniDVR software provides advanced and powerful playback, search, and export features. Providing inclusive data control, the mobile surveillance system software offers quantifiable tools for event trends and event location plotted in Google Map views if the computer viewing the video is connected to the Internet.

The compact SafeDrive MiniDVR has an internal battery backup feature that enables recording to continue in instances of sudden power loss, for example, vehicle battery ejection or destruction during a crash. The in-vehicle video system can be installed easily and permanently to a windshield with an included bracket, or for temporary use with an optional SafeDrive MiniDVR custom high-vacuum suction cup and quick-detach power cord. Other features include infrared illuminators for low-light recording in the vehicle cabin, optional remote contact switch for event saves via push button or contact closure switches (selectable Normally Open or Normally Closed), and four programmable sensors for metadata capture that can be renamed by someone with Administrative rights in the SafeDrive video management software.

The SafeDrive MiniDVR is assembled in the United States of America with domestic and imported components. The SafeDrive MiniDVR has a United States Patent Pending.
