STOCKTON, Calif. — A firefighter was seriously injured after a car crashed into the apparatus he was riding in while responding to a call.

Stockton Fire Department Firefighter Dan La Rock was ejected from the rig after the crash caused the fire truck to hit a building, ABC 10 reported. He suffered a fractured femur, vertebrae and ribs, as well as a ruptured spleen.

“Daniel La Rock has a lot of friends on the Stockton Fire Department,” said Mario Gardea, who works with La Rock at the SFD. “His work ethic is what is going to get him back to the job soon. He has a lot of hurdles, emergency surgery, but he’s doing good.
