Officials: Wash. firefighter unlikely to recover after cardiac arrest
Dan Patterson was running after a shift on July 21, and when something felt wrong, he went to Station 2, where crewmembers started work to resuscitate him

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The Spokane Valley Fire Department announced that its firefighter who suffered a cardiac arrest after work on July 21 is not expected to recover, based on results from neurological tests.
Firefighter Dan Patterson was out running after his shift on July 21 when something felt wrong. He went to Station 2, where crewmembers started efforts to resuscitate him, KREM2 reported. He was transported to a hospital.
The news outlet said Patterson has received awards for community service.
