Five firefighters were sent to the hospital this weekend after being injured in an explosion while fighting an apartment building fire in York County.

WHTM reports the fire erupted at 125 Henrietta Street in Red Lion around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

No residents were hurt. Chief Scott Gingrich of Alliance Fire and Rescue said the explosion of gases generated by the fire occurred just after a crew from the York Township company entered the building.

All but one of the injured firefighters had been discharged from the hospital by Sunday afternoon. At least 25 adults and 10 children were displaced by the blaze, the Red Cross said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
