A Baltimore firefighter underwent surgery after falling through a floor during a two-alarm blaze Friday night, according to the city fire union.

The city fire department reported that firefighters responded just before 11:30 p.m. to the 2600 block of Woodbrook Avenue in the Penn North neighborhood. Heavy fire was showing from a vacant two-story rowhome, and the flames spread to three other vacant homes, officials said. The firefighter fell through a first floor to a basement and was taken to the hospital, they said.
