Va. firefighter taken to hospital following fall at house blaze

The Abingdon Fire Department responded to a house fire early Sunday morning, where heavy smoke was reportedly coming from the house

While battling the fire, one firefighter was injured after sustaining a fall, and was transported to the hospital. The injury did not appear to be life-threatening.

ABINGDON, Va. — A firefighter was taken to the hospital following a fall while battling a house fire.

The Abingdon Fire Department responded to a house fire early Sunday morning, where heavy smoke was reportedly coming from the house, according to WCYB.

While battling the fire, one firefighter was injured after sustaining a fall, and was transported to the hospital. The injury did not appear to be life-threatening.

Two people escaped from the home unharmed.

The AFD was supplemented with assistance from Green Spring Fire Department, Washington County, Virginia Life Saving Crew and Washington County, Virginia, Sheriff’s Office.
