EKRON, Ky. — The Ekron Fire Department is grieving the loss of Fire Sergeant Richard Givan, according to the United States Fire Administration.
The incident occurred on April 8 at the fire department during a lunch break when Givan suffered a medical emergency. His colleagues quickly came to his aid, staying by his side until he passed, WVIH reported.
A dedicated volunteer, Givan had devoted many years to the Ekron Fire Department, where his bravery and commitment to serving others stood out, his colleagues said.
Given was also highly respected for his mentorship and leadership and as a cherished troop leader for the Boy Scouts.
