NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — Firefighters have traveled from around the United States to help build a home for a wounded warrior.

News 4 San Antonio reported that firefighters are working with the Nine Line Foundation and A Soldier’s Journey Home to build a house for Sgt. Eric Morante, who lost his leg 10 years ago in Iraq.

“It’s overwhelming. I don’t have the words for it,” Sgt. Morante said. “It’s very humbling and it’s very patriotic to see men volunteer and drop their time. All these guys that are here are on vacation.”

“This is the most fulfilling experience I have ever had we have been doing this for three years now. It just makes us all feel proud to be able to do this for him,” Louisiana firefighter Salvador Cetrone said.

The firefighters plan to finish the home that will include accommodations for Sgt. Morante’s injury in nine days.
