Safe Fleet buys Elkhart Brass

This is the third purchase for Safe Fleet since it was formed in September 2013

BELTON, Mo. — Safe Fleet bought Elkhart Brass this week and said it will keep the company’s management team in place.

Elkhart Brass manufactures firefighting and fire protection equipment such as monitors, valves, nozzles and appliances. The Indiana-based company has been in business since 1902.

“This acquisition supports our vision to build the leading global provider of safety solutions for fleet vehicles,” said John R. Knox, president and CEO of Safe Fleet. “The combination of Elkhart Brass with FRC and Foam Pro will enable us to develop integrated systems of monitors, valves, foam proportioning and electronic controls for the global emergency market.”

Elkhart Brass CEO and Owner Hans Ashbaugh said he is retiring in conjunction with the acquisition.

Safe Fleet was formed in September 2013 when ROM Corp. and SMI Corp. merged.

The Elkhart Brass acquisition is the third for Safe Fleet. The growing Safe Fleet portfolio includes 10 brands, five within the emergency-response market.

Financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
