HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A firefighter was promoted to captain and also dropped to one knee to propose to his girlfriend Monday.
WCHStv reported that Eric Adkins was one of four firefighters promoted to captain. His girlfriend, Elizabeth Ayers, said yes and the audience erupted into spontaneous applause.
Four other firefighters were promoted to lieutenant. Several of their loved ones filled council chambers for the ceremony and helped with the ceremonial pinnings.
