MACOMB, Ill. — It took three months, and the help of numerous friends, for Brandan Sanders to pull off an unforgettable marriage proposal to his girlfriend at Western Illinois University.
And it almost didn’t happen. Ashley Case is a senior at WIU, majoring in law enforcement and justice administration. Sanders is a firefighter from Rochelle, Illinois. They met in an EMT class they attended together nearly four years ago.
Brandan spent months coordinating with friends to surprise Ashley with a proposal, set for Friday, November 20, 2015. Without knowing anything, Ashley came close to wrecking the whole plan when she made plans to return home the night before; she planned to surprise Brandan.
