ST. LOUIS COUNTY — Lemay and St. Louis city firefighters on Friday afternoon were battling a fire at a recycling center in south St. Louis County.

Firefighters were sent to the Republic Services recycling center at 4076 Bayless Avenue to battle the four-alarm fire around noon.

No other details were immediately available.

A fire in January 2009 caused heavy damage to the recycling center there, then called QRS Recycling.

That blaze started in cardboard bale and spread quickly through a 200-by-300-foot metal building there.
