BELMONT, S.C. — A stray cat that got adopted by the Belmont Fire Department in Greenville County has become famous.

Flame, the arson cat, was featured on Animal Planet’s “My Cat from Hell,” a reality show that features cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy.

The show is similar to the popular “Dog Whisperer with Cesar Milan,” in that Galaxy visits the homes of families with cats that have behavioral issues and attempts to resolve conflicts with their owners.

But Galaxy called Flame, “the cat from heaven,” because he allows for “a bunch of guys” to gather around him and “melt.”

“We don’t have enough cat guys out there flying that flag and saying, ‘Come on man, cats are for men, too,’” Galaxy said. “I can’t be alone in this.”

Belmont Fire Deparment Chief Anthony Segars told Galaxy that he one day he was told there was a cat in the station. On a different day, firefighters told him the cat just lived at there now.

A firefighter told Galaxy that Flame was malnourished when he first showed up. Now that he’s been adopted, he is just unfazed by the loud noises of the fire station.

You can follow Flame on his very own Instagram account. He has more than 16,000 followers.

Flame has been at the fire department for about two years, according to WYFF.
