BOZEMAN, Mont. — Firefighters helped save a dog that had fallen into a frozen pond Monday.
NBC Montana reported that Bozeman Fire responded to a call about the dog that was stuck in Meyers Pond and found the golden retriever, named Finn, with “only his head visible from shore,” according to the department’s Facebook post.
One of the firefighters ventured out onto the pond in ice rescue gear, only to fall into the water himself.
The crew rescued both the firefighter and Finn and the department is “happy to report the firefighter and Finn are doing fine.”
The department used the incident to remind people to keep pets, as well as kids, away from frozen water, and to call 911 as quickly as possible if an incident occurs.
