EL PASO, Texas — A 24-year-old man allegedly posing as an El Paso Fire Department investigator was arrested Thursday morning at Bel Air High School, department officials said.

Jamie Lee Carreto, wearing an EPFD shirt, allegedly told school staff he was looking into high school fires.

Suspicious staff called police and fire investigators. Fire investigators arrested Carreto on a felony charge of impersonating a public servant.

Investigators said Carreto was never in the El Paso Fire Department and has posed as a firefighter in the past when he was found in possession of EPFD work and dress uniforms and firefighting gear.

Carreto also goes by the names Lee J. Carreto and James Lee Carreto.

Anyone who had contact with Carreto may call investigators at 771-1090.
