DALLAS — A Dallas firefighter who died June 23 after being found unconscious in his station bunk was remembered at a service Thursday.
Chris Pham, 35, died at Charlton Methodist Medical Center after being found unconscious at the Dallas Fire-Rescue station on South Hampton Road. A determination of the cause of his death is awaiting results from the Dallas County medical examiner.
A Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Mother of Perpetual Help, 2121 W. Apollo Road in Garland. He will be buried in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
Dallas-Fire Rescue chaplain Robert Winters said Mr. Pham was a quiet person who kept to himself most of the time, but he was definitely a member of his crew, whether it was work or play.
“When it came time to swing into action, he was a team player,” Mr. Winters said. “He cut up with the best of them, and when it came time to go out on a service call he did everything he could to serve the citizens of this city.”
Mr. Pham was born in Saigon, Vietnam. He and his family moved to Garland in 1981.
He graduated from North Garland High School in 1995 and attended the University of Texas at Dallas for undergraduate studies. He received an MBA from UTD in 2003.
He joined Dallas Fire-Rescue in 2006.
Mr. Pham is survived by his mother, Thanh Pham, and several siblings.
