DELAWARE CITY, Del. — An ambulance driver who was struck by a car on the side of U.S. 13 near New Castle on Saturday night has died, fire officials said today.
Michelle Smith, a Delaware City Fire Company ambulance driver, was on the ground Saturday, assisting the victim of a motorcycle accident on U.S. 13 at School Lane, when both were struck by a BMW.
According to state police, after Smith arrived at the accident, a New Castle County police officer came to the scene to provide further assistance and pulled his car to the side of the road.
