WAKEFIELD, N.H. — A child playing with a lighter probably started a fire that seriously damaged a firefighter’s home, authorities said.
The fire broke out Friday at the home of Capt. Dean Nason. He wasn’t home at the time, but his mother-in-law and two of his three children were in the house. All escaped unharmed.
Fire Chief Todd Nason — Nason’s brother — said Dean Nason recently canceled his homeowner’s insurance because he couldn’t afford it.
