ROME — A man on Thursday stabbed at least four people at a fire-fighters training school in a Rome suburb, before running down another four with a car as he attempted to flee, officials said.
Several of those injured were hospitalised, with one in a serious condition, a spokeswoman for Italy’s firefighters department, Clara Modesto, told the German Press Agency dpa.
The alleged assailant was arrested by police shortly after the late morning attack at the training school situated in Capanelle, south-east of central Rome.
The motive behind the attack was not immediately clear, but news reports said the man, who was described to be in his forties, had apparently asked to be paid for work done at the school.
