ALLENTOWN, NH — Two mobile homes in Allenstown and Epsom were destroyed by separate fires early this week.
Neither the two men occupying the homes nor any firefighters were reported injured.
Allenstown firefighters were called Sunday evening to Holiday Acres Mobile Home Park, where heavy fire was rising from a trailer, said Deputy Chief Robert Martin.
Martin said the home’s occupant is Donald Bean, and Bean had left his home for a few minutes with the woodstove burning. He came back to find the trailer on fire, Martin said. The fire was under control within an hour but had destroyed the trailer, which Martin said was insured.
Shortly before 1 p.m. Monday, the Epsom fire department was called to the Circle 9 Ranch Campground, where fire was consuming a camper, said Capt. Matt Moulton. Firefighters from Allenstown, Pembroke and Northwood also responded.
The fire may have been caused by problems with the refrigerator, a common cause of fires in campers, Moulton said.
The Epsom trailer had been occupied by Ronald Sloan, 58, a manufacturing engineer contracting with General Electric in Hooksett. He had lived at the campground for a year and a half while working in the area, Sloan said, but has a permanent home in Colorado.
The Granite Chapter of the American Red Cross arranged motel rooms for both men and provided debit cards to purchase clothing and food.
