BARNSTEAD, Mass. — Stephen L. Jones, of John Tasker Road, South Barnstead, died Dec. 29, 2006, at Concord Hospital, following a sudden illness.
He was born in Manchester, the son of Harwood and Lorraine (Hanson) Jones and lived in Barnstead most his life.
He was employed as a welder for the NH Department of Transportation for the past 20 years. He also was a firefighter, serving with Barnstead Fire & Rescue for more than 40 years. The fire department was his passion.
He was a Marine Corps veteran, serving on the USS Forrestal aircraft carrier during the Vietnam war.
He was also a longtime member of the State Employees’ Association Local 1984
IN HIS LIFE: He is survived by brothers Dale H Jones of Newbury, James and his wife, Dottie, Bennett of Berwick, Maine, a sister, Barbara, and her husband, Scott, MacDonald of New Hampton, and a brother in bond, Ken Hazeltine of Barnstead; nieces, Morgan MacDonald, Christine Thomas and Angela Thibault, a nephew, Spencer MacDonald and a grandniece, Cheyenne Rosewood Thomas.
