ALBANY, N.Y. — Gov. George Pataki this week signed almost 300 bills, including several involving volunteer fire companies.

These would require annual fiscal audits, codes of ethics and disclosure of volunteer firefighters’ financial interests.

The measures also required fire commissioners to undergo mandatory training. New laws will require fire companies to hold public hearings on their budgets before they are submitted to the local government.
