LOS ANGELES — An off-duty Los Angeles City firefighter was killed this afternoon in a dirt biking accident near Apple Valley.
Andrew J. Sauceda, 28, was riding his Honda XR 650 on Black Quarry Mountain Road about 12:41 p.m. when he lost control of his bike, overturned and was ejected over a small embankment about 30 feet high, said California Highway Patrol Officer William Osegueda.
Sauceda, who was riding with several other off-duty firemen, was wearing full protective gear, including a helmet. He died at the scene.
