KARACHI, Pakistan — Four firefighters died and 14 were injured Monday in a blaze at a garment factory in Pakistan’s biggest city, Karachi, police and a rescue worker said.
The roof of a room collapsed in the factory in the southern port city, trapping the firefighters as they rescued laborers inside, said Karachi Police Chief Tariq Jamil. At least one laborer also died.
Rescue worker Kazim Ali said 14 firefighters buried in rubble were later rescued. Some were listed in critical condition in a hospital.
