Cartoon lampoon recent firefighter scandals

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Firefighters from California to New York to London are upset with a Sacramento Bee cartoon, and some are suggesting a public demonstration to the newspaper to express their anger.
Because of the city’s firefighter scandal, fire officials realize their department is fair game for editorial criticism; however, they’re upset that images (pictured, right) from national disasters were used for parody. They say it disrespects the victims and heroes from the Sept. 11, 2001, and Oklahoma City attacks.
“I think I was more shocked than anything. And then as time progressed, I got a little more angry about it,” said firefighter Brian Rice.
